Anwa Restaurant
Description
Green curry fried rice with properly cooked shrimp is the sharpest order at Anwa, especially after a beach day around Klong Khong. The massaman curry, tom yam and pad Thai have the same made-from-scratch feel, with big portions and fresh herbs doing more work than decorative sauce ever could.
The menu wanders from Thai standards into Indian curries, naan, samosas and a few Western plates. Stay focused on Thai food, noodle soup and the Indian side of the menu; the pizza is present, which is not the same thing as being a reason to order pizza.
Banana samosas and mango sticky rice are strong finishes, and fruit shakes are worth treating as part of lunch. Beef noodle soup with gravy is a cheap, filling option for anyone who has had enough coconut milk for one day.
The room is small, cosy and set beside the main road through Klong Khong, with comfortable indoor seating for a quieter meal. Anwa is for hungry diners who want a long Thai menu, proper curries and desserts with more ambition than a packet of biscuits.
