Fisherman's House
Description
Garlic pepper tofu and Pad Thai wrapped in egg land on the same menu as salmon pesto pasta, handmade pizza and chicken cordon bleu. Fisherman’s House has decided that choosing one cuisine is for smaller minds, then somehow keeps the whole thing edible – a minor miracle in the tropics.
Thai cooking is the strongest bet: Panang curry, coconut milk chicken soup, noodle dishes and duck with red sauce all have proper flavour behind them. The banana pancake is worth saving room for, and the lemon iced tea does more work than most holiday beverages.
Vegetarians get proper tofu dishes, not the ceremonial plate of limp vegetables often wheeled out as an apology. The garlic pepper tofu is the pick, while the egg-wrapped Pad Thai gives the menu one of its better little flourishes.
The dining room leans into decoration, including drinks dressed with more care than strict necessity requires. Prices stay low for the range, so groups can order across Thai, pasta, pizza and gyoza without turning dinner into a fiscal event.
