Description
A motorbike comes with the room here, which changes Pitt Bungalow from a cheap bed near Klong Khong into a very practical base for roaming the island. The beach is a short ride away, and the dirt-track entrance is easy to miss – watch for the weathered Pitt sign off the main road.
Accommodation runs from bamboo huts with floor mattresses and fans to larger air-conditioned bungalows. Pick the A/C room if you value sleep, a fridge, and walls that do more than hold philosophical discussions with the insects. The bamboo huts are full jungle mode: birds at dawn, frogs in the bathroom, ants with territorial ambitions.
The little restaurant cooks inexpensive Thai food and has a proper vegetarian selection, while the pool table, cheap beer, free drinking water, chickens and cats create a loose social centre without turning the place into a hostel circus. Laundry is available on site.
Pitt suits travellers who want to spend their budget on island days. The included bike is the useful bit: ride south for quieter beaches, cut up to Long Beach for dinner, then return to a bungalow that knows exactly what sort of place it is.
