Isara Lanta
Description
Smoked German sausage, pork steaks and a properly spiced Massaman sit on the same menu, which is a far better use of international relations than most embassies manage. Isara Lanta handles Thai cooking and German comfort food without making either side feel like an apology.
Breakfast has real baked bread, scrambled eggs with actual seasoning, and fresh coffee on a seafront terrace. The cappuccino comes small, so treat it as a short opening act.
The Thai side deserves more than a token glance. Massaman is rich and fragrant, while the wider menu covers the sort of straightforward Thai plates that work for lunch after the beach. Pork is available here too, a useful detail on an island where many menus steer elsewhere.
Evenings bring football on screen and occasional music nights, with the neighbouring fire show visible from the terrace. Prices sit below the restaurants immediately beside it, and the beach-facing tables are the right place to linger after dinner.
