AEC Supattra
Description
Pad Thai arrives with a peppery kick, proper wok flavour, and a portion large enough to make takeaway containers feel inevitable. AEC Supattra sits about 300 metres north of Lotus Khlong Nin and turns out the sort of Thai cooking that ruins several nearby menus for you.
The seafood is handled well: garlic-fried white snapper, squid, and fish dishes land fresh and generously sized. Curries bring proper heat, especially yellow curry, while Massaman, Panang, red curry, morning glory and papaya salad cover the essential Lanta dinner ground without wandering into tourist-menu wallpaper.
Vegetarians get more than a token tofu corner. Tofu Tom Kha, tofu red-curry stir-fry, Pad Woon Sen and handmade tofu spring rolls are filling dishes in their own right. Banana and mango shakes are worth the brief pause in all that chewing.
The room is simple, tidy and lightly decorated, with cats drifting through the furniture as though they own the lease. Portions are big, prices stay low, and a plate of fruit sometimes appears at the end – civilisation has not entirely collapsed.
