Dark herbal noodle broth is the whole point at Thai Life Restaurant, a tiny inland stop just off the road crossing Koh Lanta from coast to coast. Beef or chicken arrives with fresh noodles, bean sprouts, basil and a broth so deep it could probably stain a white shirt from across the table.
The menu stays gloriously short: noodle soup and fried noodles. Add chilli, vinegar and the table seasonings until it hits your preferred level of facial perspiration. Bowls are cheap, filling and built around proper Thai herbs.
Six tables sit among jungle greenery, with cats conducting low-effort inspections nearby. The setting feels more like eating at someone’s home than a restaurant designed for sunset photographs, which is exactly why it lands.
Pick the soup for the broth; pick the fried noodles only after someone else orders the soup first. Thai Life Restaurant is for Foodies and Budget travellers who will happily leave the beach road for one serious bowl of noodles.
