Coconut coffee beside Kantiang Beach is the order here: cold, creamy and properly coconut-forward, with the bay spread out beyond the tables. The mango-passionfruit smoothie and Thai milk tea also land well after a swim.
Breakfast has more ambition than a pastry counter. Filling fruit bowls and colourful breakfast bowls suit a Koh Rok boat-day start, while the crepes and fresh croissants cover the less virtuous end of the morning. Espresso holds its own, which is useful on a beach where caffeine can otherwise become an archaeological expedition.
The indoor air-conditioned nook has room for only a few, so take an outside seat facing the water. Kilgiz Coffee is for a lingering beach-break drink and a light breakfast with a view; coffee purists hunting a destination espresso bar can save the detour.
Look for it around the Kan Tiang Bay View Resort beachside area, where the café and beach seating blend into the same little strip.
