Pirates Bay Bar & Restaurant
Description
Sunrise over the bay is Pirates Bay’s best trick, with the mainland and small islands sitting across the water before the heat starts its daily campaign. The bar is at the end of the road, wrapped in trees and far from the island’s usual scooter soundtrack.
Cold beer, fresh coconuts, smoothies, coffee and ice cream cover the long, lazy stop well. The food menu stays compact: Thai dishes and a few Western staples, including vegetarian versions. Eat here for the sea breeze and an unhurried lunch, not a forensic tour of Lanta’s largest menu.
A stone beach and shallow reef sit below the bar. The water is flat, but the reef clouds the view underwater, so save the snorkel ambitions for elsewhere. Lounge chairs go early, because even shade has a waiting list in this corner of the island.
The old tree trail nearby gives the stop a second purpose, provided your legs are up for a rough path. Pirates Bay suits a slow drink after a scooter ride, an early sunrise, or a quiet afternoon staring across the bay while civilisation carries on somewhere behind the hill.
