Bamboobay Halal Restaurant
Description
Fried fish with garlic and pepper, morning glory and steamed rice is the order here, preferably with Bamboo Beach spread out below the tables. The fish arrives crisp and properly garlicky, while the morning glory carries enough bite to keep the rice busy.
Smoothies are the other serious business. Mango is the safe bet, but the fruit cocktails, Thai milk tea and espresso all hold their own against the view, which is doing an unfair amount of work for every other roadside restaurant nearby.
The menu goes wider than the usual beach-stop Thai staples: kai lan with salted fish, suki soup, panang curry, pad kra pao, pineapple fried rice, glass noodle salad and several vegetarian dishes. Halal cooking means no alcohol, so settle into the shakes and coffee.
Find the restaurant on the right-hand side at Bamboo Beach, with its parking down the hill. It is an excellent late lunch or sunset stop after the national park, especially for Foodies and Groups who want a proper meal with sea air.
