Anda Pearl Restaurant
Description
Pad Thai Goong, Pad Kra Pao and Massaman curry are the sensible bets here, eaten with sand a few steps from the table and the sea doing most of the decorating. The seafood arrives fresh, and the kitchen handles Thai staples far better than it handles the sprawling international side of the menu.
Pesto pasta, chicken poke bowls and chicken breast steak give the resort crowd options beyond curry, with brown rice and proper salad dressing. Pizza, spaghetti and breakfast are less convincing, so don’t make this your Italian pilgrimage. Lanta has survived worse decisions, but there is no need to test its resilience.
The beachfront setting belongs to Anda Lanta Resort, with seafront cabins behind it and a relaxed dinner crowd spread along the private beach. Fire and dance shows appear on selected evenings, turning sunset drinks into more of an occasion than a quick meal.
Cocktails are worth ordering, particularly the mojito and piña colada, and the mango shakes lean tart. Portions are substantial, prices sit at resort level, and Thai-spicy curry requests have limited room to move once the base is prepared.
