Description
A whole ripe mango, warm sticky rice, coconut cream and crisp mung beans make Auntie Joy’s bowl the sharpest dessert stop on Walking Street. The balance matters: rich coconut, sweet fruit, a little salt, then that crackle on top.
The stall sits about five stands in on the left from the Walking Street entrance, though the trolley shifts sides now and then. Look for the mangoes being cut fresh over the rice, not a laminated sign promising enlightenment through fruit.
Portions are famously large, with a full mango landing on top. This is proper post-dinner food, but it also solves breakfast, an afternoon sugar emergency, and the period after sunset when every sensible plan has dissolved.
There are no seats, so treat it as Walking Street fuel and eat it while wandering. The fruit shake stand beside it gives you the obvious companion, but the mango sticky rice needs no supporting cast.
