Description
White snapper arrives crisp with garlic and chilli, while the sea sits directly beyond the table. Sea Sand Soul does Thai seafood properly, with whole fish, tiger prawns in garlic butter, and squid cooked for actual flavour.
The curry-fried whole fish and shrimp-paste fried rice are the orders to chase. Tom yum goong has enough punch to justify a return visit, and the massaman curry is a solid choice for anyone temporarily fish-ed out. Finish with banana in sweet coconut milk or mango sticky rice, because leaving room is a theory best abandoned here.
The setting is a wooden waterside perch near Saladan, looking across ferries and longtails. Furniture is basic and a little improvised, which suits the place far better than polished resort décor would.
Arrive early for dinner and settle in over cold beer or an Old Fashioned before the food lands. Seafood-focused dinners, Thai flavours with heat and depth, and a front-row view of the working water are the point; quick grab-and-go meals are not.
