Citrus Restaurant & Bar
Description
Massaman curry is the reason to stop at Citrus, with a deep, properly spiced sauce that has no interest in being polite. Pair it with rice and you have the kind of dinner that ruins weaker curries for the rest of your holiday.
The menu also handles the Thai-western split without producing culinary confusion. The seasoned burger is a serious contender after days of fried rice, while hot plates, other curries, mango sticky rice and a traditional western breakfast keep the choice broad. Portions are good for the price, and the presentation is neater than the roadside setting might suggest.
Citrus has a cosy, clean dining room with a relaxed bar feel, cold water on the table and strong Wi-Fi. Street noise reaches the tables, because the road remains committed to being a road. Live music adds more life on Wednesday and Saturday nights.
Late dinners suit this place particularly well, especially after the beach bars have offered their final round of toasted sandwiches. Stick to the massaman if you only have one meal here; it is the dish Citrus does better than most of the island.
