Foodie
Description
Khao soi here has the deep, spiced northern curry broth that southern island menus frequently turn into yellow noodle soup with a vague alibi. Foodie’s version gets the balance right, with noodles that hold their shape and enough body to justify ordering it twice.
Panang curry chicken is the other fixture, rich and properly fragrant, and the snapper fillet in white sauce is a strong detour from the curry-and-noodle lane. Laab, chicken satay and chicken with cashew nuts give the menu proper range, while Pad Thai and fried noodles cover the familiar end without losing the Thai seasoning.
The thick fruit shakes are not diluted into fruit-flavoured weather. A mojito works well once the sand-floor tables, open kitchen and laid-back music have convinced you that leaving is an optional administrative burden.
Foodie sits down a side street just off the beach area. The shaded outdoor seating keeps lunch comfortable, while dinner brings a full house and the smell of curry drifting down the lane.
