El Greco Bungalows
Description
Lamb gyros, souvlaki and proper hummus with pita give El Greco an unfair advantage over most bungalow stays near Klong Dao. Greek food is the point here, with coffee worth lingering over and breakfasts that do more than merely prevent lunchtime mutiny.
The bungalows sit opposite Klong Dao Beach, close enough for an easy walk between swims and lunch. Rooms have big soft beds, strong air conditioning, hot high-pressure showers, fridges and kettles. Free chilled drinking water is on hand, which matters more than another decorative cushion ever will.
Spiros can sort scooters, ferry plans and island pointers, while Maria keeps the Greek corner of Koh Lanta running with considerable charm. The terraces face greenery where monkeys sometimes appear, and Pepsi the dog patrols for ear scratches with the focus of a small, furry missile.
Pick El Greco for beach access, a comfortable sleep and Greek cooking without leaving the island. The bungalows are compact and sound carries between them, so light sleepers should bring earplugs. Klong Dao’s long sandy stretch starts directly across the road.
