Description

Tom yum arrives rich, sharp and properly hot, with enough seafood to turn a rice order into a sensible decision. Yoksod is the Klong Dao roadside Thai place for large plates, low prices and food that doesn’t need beach frontage to justify itself.

The strongest orders are the seafood tom yum, crispy omelette, mango salad, pad Thai and garlic pork fried rice. Penang curry and Chinese kale with crispy pork also land well. The grilled chicken with cucumber salad is a good call for a lighter lunch, while watermelon shakes cut through the chilli without becoming a dessert in a plastic cup.

The room is basic and warm, set right on the main road with no beach theatrics. Portions are substantial, so two dishes and rice can cover a small table without creating an archaeological dig of leftovers.

Bring an appetite for Thai staples. The crispy pork fried rice and tom kha soup are the two repeat orders worth remembering, especially after a day of paying Klong Dao beach prices for less food.
