Long Beach is two minutes from the bungalow doors, with beach restaurants, bars and a minimart close enough to keep the motorbike parked. Lanta Palm Beach Resort puts its money into space and location: detached bungalows, terraces, fridges, kettles, hot showers and air-conditioning.
The beachfront restaurant has made-to-order breakfast and shaded cabanas facing the sea. They are the best seats on the property for a slow morning with a book, particularly before Long Beach starts collecting swimmers and small children armed with inflatable animals.
Rooms are big, private and plainly equipped, not polished boutique rooms. The older bungalows show their age in the bathrooms, curtains and fittings, while some air-con units make enough noise to qualify as a supporting act. A few beds are firm and the many windows leave certain rooms bright early.
Choose it for a cheap, quiet base beside Long Beach, especially for a longer stay where a terrace and fridge matter more than design. The bungalow spacing gives each unit breathing room, and the beach is close enough for sunset without a trek down a dark lane.
