Spring Rolls
Description
Fresh rice-paper rolls arrive fat with tofu, herbs and a nutty bite, finished with sesame and house sauces that deserve their own small fan club. The fried versions are equally serious, with crisp wrappers and fillings that do not disappear into cabbage fog.
The menu goes far beyond its excellent name. Pad see ew, pad kee mao and rad na all land properly with tofu and vegetables, while the crispy pork belly red curry is a rare and very good find on Lanta. Massaman tofu curry, Penang fried rice, pork pad krapow and the crispy chicken dishes give the kitchen plenty of reasons to ignore your original plan.
Vegetarian and vegan eating gets a full menu. Gluten-free versions cover nearly everything apart from the fried spring rolls, and the tofu has actual texture.
Food is cooked to order, so a busy evening means a wait. Settle into the rustic roadside room, say hello to the resident cats, and leave room for passionfruit smoothies or pink milk. The pork soup bowl is rich enough to make a rainy Lanta afternoon feel like a sensible life choice.
