SeaSky Restaurant
Description
Panang lobster curry is the thing to cross Long Beach for: rich, aromatic and built around proper sweet crabby depth. The catch-of-the-day board also gets attention, particularly grilled red snapper and steamed sea bass, while seared scallops arrive looking suitably pleased with themselves.
SeaSky sits on the waterfront at Layana Resort, with wide tables, cushioned seating and a sea-to-sky view that leaves very little for architecture to do. The room leans polished beach lounge, with resident-DJ tracks, live music and occasional fire performances after dark. Saturday dinner has the full spectacle, flames included.
The menu wanders between Thai cooking and holiday Western favourites without getting lost in a laminated novel. Chicken stuffed with feta, spinach and tomatoes is a strong left-field choice; crispy shrimp, ribs and lava cake also land well. Finish with caramelised banana or tiramisu if curry has not already defeated you.
Prices sit firmly above the bamboo-table end of Long Beach, and that is the point: SeaSky is a dressed-up dinner with cocktails, proper plating and a beachfront seat worth lingering in. Gin and tonics arrive with some theatre, because a plain glass would apparently be too much peace and quiet.
