Description
Fresh oysters, fried mozzarella and garlic bruschetta are the smartest use of the menu at Laughing Bird, especially with a cold cocktail pointed at the Andaman sunset. The cliffside tables have a wide-open sea view and enough space to make dinner feel like an occasion without requiring a white shirt.
The kitchen ranges across tapas, pizza, pasta, burgers, tiger prawns, ribs and Thai-leaning mains. Stick to the things with some punch: peri peri chicken, braised beef with mashed potato, kofta, sweet-and-sour chicken, or five tapas plates shared between friends. The aglio olio is a safe pasta pick; the carbonara has no such diplomatic passport.
Breakfast deserves attention too. Toast with homemade jam is a simple pleasure, and the mango sticky rice lands well after dinner. Prosecco at sunset, Italian red with beef, then a few cocktails is a perfectly respectable way to lose track of time.
Book this for a long sunset meal. Mosquito spray belongs in the bag after dusk; the insects have also spotted the view, annoyingly.
