Description

Thai-spicy curries at Koy Koy carry proper chilli heat, and the pancakes are worth saving room for. This little kitchen is the strongest reason to pull into Talad, especially for Thai flavours left intact.

Talad is a compact line of small restaurants and bars beside the Klong Khong main road. Expect plastic chairs, open-front kitchens, cold drinks and several menus in one short stretch. It is a food stop, not a grand night market with lanterns and a documentary crew.

Live music after dark gives the bar end of the strip some purpose beyond feeding passing scooters. The setup suits backpacker budgets, solo diners and groups who cannot agree on one cuisine without declaring a small civil war.

Koy Koy does the local-food job properly, with heat available for those prepared to accept the consequences. The rest of Talad is useful for a casual dinner and drinks, but Koy Koy’s pancakes are the detail that sticks in the memory.
