Baan Check In
Description
Banana chocolate pancakes, fresh fish, chicken satay and properly fiery red and green curries give Baan Check In more purpose than most roadside bungalow stops. The Thai cooking is halal, cheap, and built around big portions.
Garden bungalows and newer rooms are clean, compact and well equipped, with air-con, fans, fridges, kettles, safes and balconies. The bigger beds are notably comfortable, and the patios put you close to the garden at night, with all the insects attending their usual unpaid shift.
A 7-Eleven sits across the road, while Beautiful Beach is a short walk away and beach bars sit nearby for an easy evening wander. Scooter rental, laundry and island-trip bookings are available on site, giving the place plenty of practical use beyond somewhere to sleep.
The basic bungalows are small, and cleaning around the huts starts early enough to interrupt a lie-in. Book a newer garden bungalow for the balcony and mattress; the red and green curries arrive with enough chilli to reset your sinuses.
