Natacha Halal Foods
Description
Massaman curry, green curry soup and spicy beef salad are the reasons Natacha Halal Foods keeps pulling you back across the road from 7-Eleven. The flavours land properly: creamy coconut, real chilli heat, and enough spice in the papaya salad to make a cold smoothie feel like sensible planning.
The menu is broad without turning into a laminated novel of sadness. Pad Thai, Panang curry soup, samosas, mango sticky rice, fried chicken and lassis all have their regulars, while fresh fish and shrimp can be cooked to order with notice. Portions are generous and prices stay firmly in local-dinner territory.
Vegetarians need to ask. Thai dishes can be made with tofu and vegetables, which opens up far more of the menu than it first appears. The dining area is simple, relaxed and built for eating, not posing beside a neon sign.
Food can take time when the kitchen is busy, so settle in. The fried chicken is absurdly crisp for something bought at this price point – physics has apparently taken the evening off.
